run world community grid

Sun Oct 07, 2012 8:00 pm

I was wondering if anyone had, or could try to, run world community grid's BOINC manager on the raspberry pi from Puppy. I understand that it won't be possible to run many of the projects, however, there may be enough ram to run a single work unit of "Say No to Schistosoma". If someone does this and can get it to work, please post the run time, cpu temperature, and ram usage, and any other information you may have.

World Community Grid may be found at their website here,

Hi johnnyjimm

It might be worth asking on the Puppy forum here-

From looking at the system requirements, it seems that the RAM would not be the biggest failing, as most of the projects require 250MB or less (some are as high as 1GB). Also, the disk space for all of them would be easy to meet with any decent sized SD card.

The big issue that I was was in the notes on the operating systems and architecture. If you look at them, it says that it supports Linux, but with the caveat of requiring x86 or x86-64. As the Pi runs with ARM architecture, it does not look like it is supported at this time. ... minimumreq

Hope that helps.
