Working usb-audio-midi sound cards with raspberry pi 3 Model B

Sat Sep 11, 2021 9:51 am

Hello,

I couldn't make my zoom h4n and ur242 sound card working on the raspberry pi.
Anyway, I would like to buy a new one which is smaller than ur242 and has midi (zoom h4n don't have).
I am interested in this one : https://www.thomann.de/fr/tc_helicon_go_twin.htm

This one is interesting because I will be able to use it with my Ipad, but I would like to use it also with the raspberry pi, if it can connect to both (not in same time of course) it should be great. Does someone know if it has chance to be working on the rapsberry pi? My raspberry pi is pi 3 Model B.

UR22Mk2 and Behringer UMC404HD both work well with PI4 and iPad. The UR22 does not.

Thank you for your quick response!

I checked my raspberry pi version it's Pi 3 Model B. So the cards you are talking about works also with Pi 3 ?

And these sound cards are a little bit too big, is there something smaller which is known as good working with pi 3 ?

My Zoom H5 also works, I am surprised you h4n doesn't. Try something like this:

Code: Select all

arecord -L
arecord -D hw:CARD=H5,DEV=0 --dump-hw-params
arecord -D hw:CARD=H5,DEV=0 -f S16_LE -r 48000 -c 2 temp1.wav
H5 will change for your device, see output from -L option.
Assuming you are running an updated version of Raspberry Pi OS.
