@vinaypundith - That is unfortunate.
If you install pinn-lite.zip afresh, then it overwrites recovery.cmdline with the default version that includes the `runinstaller`option. This causes PINN to wipe your fresh SD card to make it suitable for use with PINN. If you have any existing OSes installed, then this will unfortunately wipe them out.
Whenever your PINN self-updates, it does not change recovery.cmdline for this reason.

Okay. So would I have been safe if I had kept the old recovery.cmdline and not used the one from the fresh zip?

You just put the latest LE image (9.0.0 img.gz as we speak) to the update folder of your machine. (LibreELEC can also use the img.gz file as an update file).

you also can use the built-in update functionality of LibreELEC. but you have to switch from auto to manual update and select the update path to be able to upgrade from v8.x to 9.0
once you have upgraded to LibreELEC 9.0 you can switch back to auto, to get 9.x updates. later to upgrade to 10.0, you have to switch to manual once again.

If you add the `forceupdatepinn` option to PINN's recovery.cmdline, then PINN will automatically self-update whenever a new version is available without requiring user interation.
Note that the Recovery main menu still needs to be entered for the update check to occur.

There was a problem replacing OSes on a USB stick when PINN was booted from the USB stick - the OS would be replaced, but PINN was not made aware of the update. This is now fixed.

Finally, I added loglevel=2 in recovery.cmdline to remove the couple of kernel messages when booting.

Any chance we'll see Manjaro ARM in PINN? The mate version came out pretty recently and I've been trying to get a dual boot going with it but it black screens for me when ever I try to boot it with PINN but even after following the custom OS guide it just becomes BSOS. I'm pretty sure it's because of the partitions_setup.sh though as I just used the one from arch2.

Have you got a link for Manjaro?
I found the 18.05 Mate version from May 2018, but that has a corrupted image in it claiming to be 256GB in size.
Then there's a more recent 19.02 version, but I only found a minimal edition and an LXQT version, not the Mate version.

EDIT: And according to a post here -> https://forum.manjaro.org/t/raspberry-p ... rror/62401 the mate edition is no longer supported.
Maybe an LXQT or KDE version would be better?

They haven't updated the current maintainer list but that post is from before the new Mate edition came out (last month).
As for LXQT and KDE, I'd say give them each a try and see which ones are stable for you. (KDE will probably be quite laggy, at least it was for me last I tried it). I'm yet to yet the LXQT version as I've been waiting for mate but it shouldn't be resource intensive. Best option I'd suggest would be to offer LXQT and Mate?

@Haris1977 and others - I have released a beta version of PINN that implements renaming of OSes. It also includes proper touchscreen drivers for Pimoroni Hyperpixel displays. Please read the README.md file that is included in the zip.

Please note that this is a test version of PINN. Things may go wrong, so don't use it on your important OSes or data! Use a clean SD card and be prepared to trash all your data. I've fixed lots of issues that this change introduces, but there may be some that I have missed, so I'm looking for feedback on how well it works, or if there are any other problems that I missed and need fixing before a proper release.

With this version (305.zip) i cannot even get my keyboard to work. I m trying to enter recovery mode (by hitting shift) but that doesnt seem to work..(+ up/down keyboard arrows do not work also)

That's strange - it works perfectly normally for me. I haven't messed with any of that, except for permanently enabling the mouse driver for the touchscreens.
I noticed the version I uploaded had the wrong version (3.0.5a) so I've uploaded a new version for p3.0.5b

Nope. If i hit any keyboard button my mouse cursor goes in the up left corner.

And Shift doesnt work either (i thing the keyboard - except for mouse - doesnt work - at least in the initial menus).

Thus i can not even go to recovery mode to check further

Have you tried it on a blank SD card? That will go straight to the recovery menu without having to press shift. Or you can add `forcetrigger` to recovery.cmdline to force it into the recovery menu. If you also add `ssh vncshare` to recovery.cmdline, you should at least be able to connect to it from another computer and view the /tmp/debug log.
Have you got anything unusual connected? Or any additional files, like pinn_init.sh, or a config.txt file?
I'll build another version tomorrow without the mouse driver changes and you can see if that makes a difference.

Great!
Now you need to try and break it by trying out different operations, like backing up and restoring a renamed OS etc. Does it behave as you expect? I made some choices as to if the alias is maintained or not but they might not agree with your ideas. Does the alias name appear in all the right places?

This was quite a wide-reaching change so there are many places where I could have missed something.

I tried to use the backup option for my 2 test os's (libreelec + rasplex).

I formatted a 8 GB usb drive (fat32) but when i check e.g the Libreelec file on maintanance menu, the drop down menu of "Destination drive" seems empty and i can not enable my usb (thus back up option is grey out - All other tabs like edit config/password/fix/reinstall/replace/info/alias are visible).

I have created a BACKUP folder in my usb with 2 folders (Libreelec and Rasplex)

Am i missing smth here? Haven t done this procedure cause i never needed it..

PS1: Oups my mistake. Had to create a folder named ''os'' on my usb drive. I m testing and will inform..

PS2: Ok, i 've tested it and it seems to work (at least for my 2 os's). I backed them up on my 8 GB usb drive (didnt change anything during the backup) and at the end i did get a notification saying "OS's backed up successfully".

Then i re-installed PINN on my fresh sd card and also restored my 2 backups from usb. I had those 2 names

Rasplex_RPi2

Then i re-changed the alias names to whatever i wanted (not a big deal). It seems promising !

I'm open to suggestions. All feedback welcome, then we can move onto identifying why the touchscreen/mouse mods did not work for you!

I personally have no problem re-naming the os's - through the alias name - after installing/re-installing/replacing. Besides, we rarely use this option i guess. Other ppl may have different opinion though.

Yes, it is surely smth wrong with the touchscreen mod. I used 2 keyboards/mouses (wired and wireless) in order to eliminate any possible keyboard/mouse incompatibility. But i had no luck (every key press resulted in upper left corner mouse movement as i stated before)
