New Jessie Distribution

Tue Jan 10, 2017 2:49 pm

The new Jessie distribution is VERY nice., I still have to access my Windows 7 drive from the Pi with smb://[IP Address] and that's OK. The date and time and the Bluetooth audio both work VERY well on both my Pi2 and Pi3. THANK YOU development team!!!

To access the hard drive on my netbook and also my notebook I open file manager, goto places, click on the system drive enter 'raspberry' as the password. You should have full access to the drive. I used this to delete some file Windows would not let me delete (they were empty game directories, not system files). Be very careful as you could really crash you Windows system if you mess with the wrong file.

If you are using a USB stick you can apt-get update, upgrade and install. I did not get anything installed by using the GUI package manager.

Using the terminal window I did set the timezone. You might need to reset the time in Windows when you reboot.

ps one of the things I installed was Ace of Penguins

Tomorrow actually.... (That's for where I am...it's already 11 Jan. in the UK, but not in California as I post this.)

Edit to add... Oddly, there don't appear to be any patch notes for this release (the most recent ones are for 2016-11-25). Makes one wonder why this release...

I will post here to not open similar post...
I do from time to time:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get install -y pprompt
sudo apt full-upgrade
and this all works and my JEssie is updated.
But problem is that I do not have VNC or Chromium Web Browser, where did that stuff goes?!?!
I try to add in menu but still there is not anything to add (VNC or Chromium)? How can I full upgrade this?

As you are running Jessie read the BLOGs that is why the RPF have a web site:

https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/introducing-pixel

https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/a-secu ... bian-pixel

The most recent Jan update was a minor on and changed the BOOT partition from FAT16 to FAT32 (so only noticeable on Fresh Installs) otherwise the last major update was prior to Xmas:

uname -a
Linux raspberrypi 4.4.38-v7+ #938 SMP Thu Dec 15 15:22:21 GMT 2016 armv7l GNU/Linux

I try couple of steps but unsuccessfuly, even SenseHAT emulator is not here.
I think is necessary to do manual:
sudo apt-get install -y rpi-chromium-mods
sudo apt-get install -y python-sense-emu python3-sense-emu
sudo apt-get install -y python-sense-emu-doc realvnc-vnc-viewer

Yes exactly as stated in the BLOG last September:

To update an existing Jessie image, type the following at the command line:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get install -y rpi-chromium-mods
sudo apt-get install -y python-sense-emu python3-sense-emu
sudo apt-get install -y python-sense-emu-doc realvnc-vnc-viewer
