Ok i flashed my X850 but FW not change. Before and after i still have the same FW.
It needs a full power cycle for the new firmware taking over. Please power down the X850, allow for some seconds and then power on again.

No, spin down time is only for mechanical hard drives.

But if i use RPI3 i can now flash my X850 by this update FW ?
Yes, simply follow the 'JMicron provided us with a firmware update tool' link in the thread I referenced. We have an ARM binary that works on all ARM boards I tested with so far. And please always backup the current firmware first as explained also there.
I have the reboot issue too. I don't want to brick my adapter using firmware from unknown sources.
Why doesn't SupTronics provide a new firmware for this board? They don't offer a support contact (only sales contact) and no download area on their home page. It seems a "fire and forget"-company. Knowing this before I would never never buy this device.

Yes.
Suptronic send me on email new FW 2.0.4.0 but i still on this version have problem with my SSD disc.
But when i read this forum, and flash with FW JMS578_Hardkernel_v173.01.00.01.bin my problem stopped. Now all works ok with my old SSD SanDisk 16GB mSATA. Thanks.

But i dont know for what is option without NVRAM flash ?

The source is JMicron of course. I got new beta firmwares from them directly, through Hardkernel and also Pine64 founder (who established contact between JMicron and community). Now the latest firmware with some fixes is publicly available through Hardkernel (ODROID board maker): https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-xu4/soft ... _fw_update

As far as i understand from documentation (http://www.jmicron.com/PDF/brief/jms578.pdf) the JMS578 supports external SPI NVRAM for Vendor VID/PID (for OEM adapters). The firmware is stored in internal rom.

The adapter is out at least since June '17. The reboot issue is known at least since Oct '17. SupTronics did an hardware revision v1.3 in the meantime, but is still shipping it's adapters with buggy firmware. So far...

As already mentioned the latest firmware upgrade should fix this but it does not (for me). That's why we developed a script handler. Should work in Raspbian as well: https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-xu4/trou ... own_script

I have testet the JMS578_Hardkernel_v173.01.00.01.bin and the JMS578_v255.01.00.01_beta.bin. Neither of them fixes the issue for me.
Even a sdcard with bootcode.bin doesn't do it for me. I have to replug the power connection to the raspberry after "sudo reboot" to bring the RPi to life again.

I also try flash it under Windows 10 by software FwUpdateTool_v1_19_16_24.exe but also can not. Not found device.

And tell me where is stored firmware? In chipset Jms578 or in chip Pm25LQ010 (2x4 pins)?
If in Pm25LQ010 I can try desolder it and programmer it on external programmer...

The beta firmware was a big hassle for me too.
The RPi did not come up after flashing the X850. I had to insert a sdcard with the newest raspbian to bring it to life again (with X850 still connected). After that I downloaded and flashed the "JMS578_Hardkernel_v173.01.00.01.bin".
The X850 works at least for cold boot again.
Good luck!

But i still try flash from SDCARD with Raspian.
After flash FW beta 255.xxx my X850 dead. When i try again flash by fw hardkernel 173.xxxx i have error which i show in previous post.
I can not flash it.
I try flash it by external programmer like this:
https://www.dhresource.com/0x0s/f2-albu ... 6-sop8.jpg

But software programmer not have on list chip PM25LQ010... only have PM25LV010.
But on my x850 is chip PM25LQ010.

Please tell me after you flash beta also get error with try flash hardkernel 173 ? My X850 is not show under Windows and also under Raspbian by command

I have this software too but never needed it. There is a "FwUpdateTool.ini" with several settings. Does changing this parameters help?

The X850 drive did not show up first in windows. I started the MiniTool Partition Wizard. This tool showed the drive, but without a drive letter. After assigning a drive letter for the boot partition this partition was depicted in the file explorer.

Open the file with a packer tool (e.g. 7-Zip). There is the updater and the ini file inside.

I just downloaded the file with wget from https://wiki.odroid.com/_media/odroid-x ... pdater.tgz to a temporary directory on the sdcard, extracted the whole bunch and executed the flash command. Did a shutdown, replugged the power supply. And voila: it worked!
