Noo, case support for fanless stuff :'(
RAM, USB, Power (USB 3.1), Faster MicroSD card reader upgrades still missing, maybe in 202x better luck.
Maybe it's time for me to change back to x86, after all these years just keep disappointed with RPi. Not even worth to sell RPi 3, better just throw along with trash.

Yes, the Pi Foundation clearly aren't taking any notice of you so best go back to using Intel chips

What are you blathering on about? The heat dissipation is much better on my RPi3B+ (which is currently inside a AIY cardboard box and doesn't have any heatsink other than the RPF's new processor casing

Re: New Raspberry Pi model 3B+ 1.4 GHz, 330Mbit Ethernet, 802.11ac, PoE
How much of the new hardware is supported by the current version of 'Stretch' and is a 3+ really that much of an upgrade?. I'm waiting for a Four ,vbg.
Re: New Raspberry Pi model 3B+ 1.4 GHz, 330Mbit Ethernet, 802.11ac, PoE
Please go back to Intel. And use their forums instead.
What is it about a point upgrade (ie 3B to 3B+) that people seem to misunderstand? Point releases get gradually improved features, not major upgrades. And the features you want to add would require major changes to the SoC - a well documented fact
Some people cannot help but complain. Here you are, a new (and unexpected) model with some great new features, and all you can do is whinge. I'd hate to be you, never being happy.

Re: New Raspberry Pi model 3B+ 1.4 GHz, 330Mbit Ethernet, 802.11ac, PoE
There's a new release of Stretch, so sudo apt update/upgrade should get everything you need.
The upgrade is 3B to 3B+ - so a point upgrade - but in short you get faster Ethernet, faster wireless, faster CPU, better thermal management, PoE ability (with HAT). Not bad, and it's still the same price. I think that's a pretty good deal.
Enjoy your wait for 4. It still some time away. Holding breath not recommended. Death will result.

The board layout is identical to the 3B apart from the four extra POE pins.

Depends which case. Official Raspberry Pi case fits perfectly. PiBow doesn't, however, and they've launched a new version.

Re: New Raspberry Pi model 3B+ 1.4 GHz, 330Mbit Ethernet, 802.11ac, PoE
Couldn't agree more. Went straight to my usual online stores this morning to buy a 3B+, but was really disappointed when I saw that all resellers here in Sweden have added almost 30% to the price, compared to the 3B. I guess they missed the fact that you worked hard to keep the same price on the new board

Re: New Raspberry Pi model 3B+ 1.4 GHz, 330Mbit Ethernet, 802.11ac, PoE
So faster everything, and much wanted PoE - really as much as they could absolutely do without changing SoC completely, I'm happy.
Only other possibilities would be 2GB RAM and eMMC - but they would increase the price,
and remember they've managed to keep the SAME price as the pi3.
Call it gigabit ethernet though, that's what the ethernet interface is !

This is sweet. Lot's of nice improvements. But not so much as to make me feel that my current crop of Raspberries are immediately obsolete and fill me with the urge to replace them all !

It fits the AIY kit cardboard box. That's where mine is right now.

Ethernet moved, reason why fanless case from my signature isn't supported. Leaves empty spot.DougieLawson wrote: ↑Wed Mar 14, 2018 10:00 amThe board layout is identical to the 3B apart from the four extra POE pins.
For example, this is supported ofc, all is needed is right dimensions, nothing else:

Re: New Raspberry Pi model 3B+ 1.4 GHz, 330Mbit Ethernet, 802.11ac, PoE
PoE header fitted as well, not DIY.
I can see why and where this is useful as (out very recently bought batch of Pi3's for the March Birthday PiJAM) would loose a lot of wires an PSU's and extension leads with PoE as we now use a mass of wire for PiServer use. (which worked very well by the way).

All the rest is a nice + update

Re: New Raspberry Pi model 3B+ 1.4 GHz, 330Mbit Ethernet, 802.11ac, PoE
Hmmmm
Nah.
Nice upgrade, but sadly I don't require more CPU power and I actually took the ethernet off my Pi - its a nuisance for me.
Though, with that being upgraded, does that mean the USB now has its own bandwidth or is it still shared?
Faster wireless is not much use when you live in a country where pidgeons are faster than your internet.

I'm not whinging, I'm politely declining to buy the new model and asking if the upgrades include a dedicated Lan bandwidth or if its still shared with the USB.
Though I do admit I was moaning about my terrible ISP

Re: New Raspberry Pi model 3B+ 1.4 GHz, 330Mbit Ethernet, 802.11ac, PoE
Nice to see an upgrade, of course I was hoping for that new Octocore 2.0ghz, 16Core GPU with OpenGLES3.2 Raspberry 4, but that's next year...right? Right???
As a + upgrade it is nice to see an overall boost in performance, I would have like to have seen the GPU with an extra core or 2 though maybe for the ++ version? Before the 4?? ...right??
My orders in, looking forward to trying it out.
