I'm Mike and I just bought a RPi 3B+. Here's the fun part, I have no idea how to do anything with it. I want to do some research for electro shock discharge. I want to monitor Relative Humidity /static electricity in the air, pressure, temp, add two cameras (to video record any activity in 3D) and have the data sent to my phone, tablet or PC. I hope folks here can really help me make this instrument.
Nice to meet everyone. :D

My name is Ricky, and I am currently in Seattle. I work in data for [insert big tech company], but I am attempting to cross over to the developer side. While creating some simple bots, I found this company which is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Imagine what companies like these can do when we get closer to AI... :geek:

Hello all,

My name is David. I work as a software engineer in US-Midwest focusing on web technologies and IoT. I'm somewhat of a noob when it comes RPi. My goal in joining this forum is to become an informed noob.

Hello everyone!

I'm Olivier from Belgium... and from Russia at the same time, I'm working there.
I recently discovered the RasPi and have begun tinkering with it, so far I'm just playing a couple games... but I'd like to integrate it into a domotics network later on if I get used to it. So, I'm here to learn about it!

David in Maryland. I'm a photographer and an amateur astronomer. I am also a Mac guy—my wife and I have seven modern Macs in the house. I recently bought a Pi 3 B+ for the sole purpose of running TheSkyX Professional from Software Bisque to control an astronomical telescope mount and associated equipment in my small home observatory Just curious, as this software is cross-platform and I have been running it under Mac OS X. I do not yet know if there will be an advantage to running it under Raspbian.

Hi, this is Nick from SOGN, Norway. I'm a freelance writer. Curiosity of knowing about Raspberry Pi lead me here so I'm here to learn from this community. If you could guide me on where to start about basics? Thanks

Jacques here and looking to see how I can meld a RasPi with some vintage SGI gear. Looking to come up with a low power internal 'server' that will act as an NFS server and provide modern web browsing via remote desktop. HTTPS websites are no longer accessible on good old IRIX. :?

My name is Martin and i'm from Poland. Currently, I am involved in industrial automation and programming - I use Object Pascal (i.e. Delphi, Lazarus, Micropascal), Bascom and etc. I like interesting project and most of them are related to productions machines. In such projects I also use industrial controllers (ladder, fb), HMI and so on. Simply, when I see a stone I think how to program it... :D

My name is Jim Julian (one of many). I have a degree in Psychology and minored in Electronic Engineering. I've been 'playing' with computers for over thirty years. I learned digital cartography from the ESRI Arcviiew 3.2 GIS program suite and the Matlab mathematics laboratory in the mid-2000s, Digital photography, HDR (High Dynamic Range) in the late 90s-early 2000s.
My first computer was a Texas Instruments TI/99A, though my TI-59 calculator had more power and flexibility, as well as a printer.

I use the Raspberry Pi 3B/+ to monitor and control a solar panel array. I collect daily data and graph the results on a webpage administered the Apache browser on the Pi. There are four relays wired as DPDT switches to run a linear actuator in forward and reverse directions. There is a small sensor constructed of small solar cells to determine the direction of the sun. The data from this sensor is compared to data calculations derived from a NOAA spreadsheet. The impacting energy is calculated using equations from's Solar Radiation on a Tilted Surface. Services and timers determine what runs and when. This way, the operation is ketp within daylight hours. I may eventually add one or more analog-to-digital converters, a weather hat, and a GPIO expansion. I already have a Real Time Clock (RTC).

While the event is unlikely, I think a Raspbian virtual machine for desktop and laptop computers running other operating systems, would be a good idea.

I think a small computer for kids to tinker, play, study, or 'fool around' with is a good idea. The cost of failure is small and the rewards of suucess are high.

Best wishes and Good Luck,
Jim Julian

Thank you for the add!

Last week I built my first Pi, it is a 3 B+ with PiCam and clear case w/fan. It is my OctoPrint server for my latest 3D printer. Next up is a POC thin client which will then be converted to a WeatherStation. If I could make a submarine out of one I would LOL

Hi! I'm Howard.

I see members in their 30's calling themselves codgers so I'm not sure what that makes me at 63! I've been a tinkerer forever, taking apart old tube radios and once in a blue moon actually getting one to work after I "fixed" it.

My first PC was a NEC 286 10 MHZ with a whopping 640K of RAM and a 40 MB (yes, I said MB) hard drive and DOS 3.2 in ROM. Cutting Edge!

I discovered Pi's about a year ago and love these little guys. Slowly learning Python (okay, actually copying and modifying other peoples code to suit me, but that's how I learn best).

Hoping I can start giving back to the community that's given me so many ideas!

Thank You
