INSTALL WINDOWS XP 32-BITS

Sat Jul 20, 2019 11:37 pm

I need a computer to install Windows XP Pro 32-bit that I need to run old applications. Is Rasperry Pie compatible with Windows XP?

Not natively some people have got it running through emulation applications like qemu. You'll need an ISO and activation key though and the activation servers are no longer up.

In theory, there are ways. In practice, not practical at all. Even if you got it running on a Pi, it would be far to slow to be of any practical use.

In other news, please do not use all caps subject line. It makes you look like you're shouting and most people don't like being shouted at.

No. Raspberry Pi computers are based on ARM architecture and Windows XP was designed to run on x86 hardware. You cannot run Windows XP directly on a Raspberry Pi.
My mind is like a browser. 27 tabs are open, 9 aren't responding,
lots of pop-ups, and where is that annoying music coming from?

To run windows your better off using windows on raspberry https://www.worproject.ml/ which is based off on windows on arm 10 https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/arm/ (BTW windows on arm can do 32 bit emulation of programs)
if you need to run old applications if its windows xp just use real hardware or x86 emulation (like vmware, virtualbox, proxmox etc.)
THE PI IS A LIE :D

Run WinXP on natively on RPi, comes with free headaches and frustrations!

Hurry and avail of lifetime of regrets!
"Don't come to me with 'issues' for I don't know how to deal with those
Come to me with 'problems' and I'll help you find solutions"

Some people be like:
"Help me! Am drowning! But dont you dare touch me nor come near me!"

Hi

If you actually think that windows xp could run on a pi4, I recommend you use qemu, or install the windows xp theme by using twister os: https://twisteros.com/index.html.

Your reply is to a thread from two years ago.

I have been using Twister OS on a Pi4 for some weeks as an always-on desktop, using the MacOS theme, which looks quite nice and works well under the XFCE Desktop environment.

Under Pi-Apps Twister runs box86 which runs WINE which then can run (in theory) windows .exe files. All quite well integrated, I must say. I have tried a few windows programs previously used for audio and graphic work under XP , and the programs run tolerably well on the Pi, with surprising speed. Some have not worked, such as ZOOM.

(FYI, the programs included mostly portable versions of Faststone, XMPlay, Creative Wave Editor, Direct MP3Cut, and Sumatra PDF Reader. See more candidates at portableapps, com.)

Why bother with Windows XP IF your favorite windows programs can run under the Windows theme on Twister OS?

Be warned that there can be significant issues with using WINE, such as accessing CD drives and some usb devices.
