Raspberry Pi HP LaserJet M12a

Mon Jun 21, 2021 8:35 am

I have HP Laserjet Pro M12a USB printer. From my understanding, it is incompatible with my Raspberry Pi 400 running Raspberry Pi OS because my printer is not listed in the list of compatible printers. Additionally if I select what Raspberry recommends, it looks like a success. "Processing - Rendering completed" then "Idle" however nothing actually happens with the printer.

Is my understanding correct? If yes, is there a possibility that HP has marketed this printer in a different region under a different name which is supported by Raspberry Pi OS?

The family of HP Printers are known as *WinPrinters* and not supported by HPLIP package. There is a foo2zjs driver package in the repository which "should" suffice:

Code: Select all

sudo apt update
sudo apt install printer-driver-foo2zjs

https://packages.debian.org/buster/prin ... er-foo2zjs
Take what I advise as advice not the utopian holy grail, and it is gratis !!

Thank you. It now works.

I installed the package and then followed this guide https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/printi ... pberry-pi/

Return to “Raspberry Pi OS”
