SMP: failed to stop secondary cpus

Tue Apr 13, 2021 11:11 am

I've got a Raspberry Pi 2B on my desk, which is my sanbdox/dev server: so it's running headless and accessed remotely.

However, quite often (every day or two) it just crashes (=kernel panic) with the following error message:

Code: Select all

SMP: failed to stop secondary cpus
I am extremely annoyed by this and am determined to find a solution. Anyone perhaps have been in the same situation? Any ideas welcome...

Running standard, stock OS, only addition is a RealTek RTL8188FU USB WiFi, raspinfo output:

Code: Select all

Did you have a solution to this problem? I have a client having nearly the same issue on a custom build of Raspbian where hundreds of others aren't seeing this issue. Could it be hardware related and I should suggest an RTM?

The problem may be in undervoltage (flash icon on a monitor). Try to use the official power supply which provides 5.1V.
