Games for raspbian
Are there games you can apt-get, that work out-of-the-box with raspbian?

Re: Games for raspbian
Many games. Pretty much everything supported in Debian Wheezy. Just be aware that a number of the graphical games are intended to run on faster desktop systems and may perform poorly on the Raspberry Pi. Perhaps others will chime in with specific game recommendations.

ScummVM from the repository works good out of the box. I tried the feeble files and even video playback works (I re encoded the video files a view years ago when the format was not supported by ScummVM so I can't say anything about the original video files). Sadly it only runs in native resolution, scaling (fullscreen) does not work. I read someone was working on that but I haven't heard anything since.

Good to hear! i try'd "scummvm" and that did not work ? (how did it work with Julian...?), but now i will try other games if they work...

Re: Games for raspbian
I just did a "aptitude install scummvm" and copied over the game files via smb from my pc. I am not using an image tough. I installed the system with the installer form the raspbian website from scratch.
Re: Games for raspbian
I found out that when i install Scummvm, and enter X by: startx... it works!
But when i enter X by: sudo startx.... it does not work, why is this so?

Re: Games for raspbian
You should try to run ScummVM directly from command line, no X needed. Just enter scummvm
Works like a charm, tested lot of games including MonkeyIsland 3. Also OpenTTD works that way. No X - more memory for application ...

And dont forget the fuse (fuse-sdl for console based) - ZX Spectrum emulator, works great especially from commandline (fuse-sdl).

I will surely give this a go, and get more used to the commandline (again...tomas_em wrote:And dont forget the fuse (fuse-sdl for console based) - ZX Spectrum emulator, works great especially from commandline (fuse-sdl).

p.s.
never played Monkey3... i just started on Monkey1, and it's a real joy to play it once more after all these years
