Bluetooth audio a2dp with Rasbian??

Sat Aug 18, 2012 7:13 pm

I have a Trust class 1 Bluetooth 2.0+ERD dongle and I would like to stream audio via a2dp.
I have "apt-get install bluez" and "apt-get install bluez-tools" however I'm not sure where to go from here.
I tried installing the X-windows tools blueman and bluedevil but neither will install correctly.
So far I can "hcitool scan" successfully but I'm not sure how I am to pair and get my music player to use the Bluetooth device as audio hardware.

Can any enlighten me on the next steps for getting a2dp working??

I hate to resurrect an old thread, but i'm looking at the same situation (I believe) from the raspi to Bluetooth speakers (Jambox). Did you have any luck with getting this working?

Yep, id like to get an answer to this too.

Ive got an a2dp bluetooth stereo headset, it can be used as headset for phone use or as high fidelity stereo headphones. Ive installed bluedevil, which handshakes and recognizes the headset. Its shown as a connected device now. but i dont get it how to send the audiosignal via bluetooth. In windows you got something like an audiomixer which allows to choose the output device. I dont know really how to manage switching to another audio output device and i dont want to mess around with the config files unless i know what the heck im doing.
Google-search brought me some how to about using the pi as audiosink, but not the other way around.

any tipps?

I am using the latest Raspbian "wheezy" and from the repositories via Synaptic have installed BlueZ, and many of the additional packages, this is supposed to be the most comprehensive Bluetooth Stack and is recommended by Debian:

Blueman GUI:
I will always assume you are running Raspbian for desktop and Raspbmc for XMBC !

I am also in the process of figuring this out. I've read the PLANEX 2 in 1 Micro Size USB Bluetooth 3.0 WiFi Combo Adapter works very well and getting this to pair with a Logitech Boombox or speakers accompanied with say the Logitech Wireless Speaker Adaptor would be frickin awesome!!!
