1) 1200mA shared by the 4 ports, it does not have per port !DarkPlatinum wrote: ↑Sun Sep 02, 2018 2:09 pm1. What is the output current of the Raspberry Pi 3B + USB Ports? (Per port)

Read the information available, the developer has spent many many many hours on PiNN

Re: 2 questions
This may sound a trifle harsh, but I'm going to try to do it as gently as I can...
The people who comment here are doing so on their own time, and some of that time has quite a bit or real world value. Many of us are fairly old (I'm 69, for instance) and quite a few are professionals in various fields. The amount of "hand holding" you get depends on (a) who answers the question and (b) how they are feeling that day. There is a general expectation that those seeking help will "do their own homework", first by attempting to find the answers on their own and if that fails, following links provided, doing any additional research needed and then--if need be--asking questions that are as specific as possible. Now if you really want someone to tailor very specific, personal, help or even come to your location to show/help/do it for you, then you are asking for professional services and you should be prepared to pay upwards of $100 per hour for it.
Now as for me, because I've set up more than one Pi to boot from a mass storage device (HDD and SSD in my case) going back a ways when it was much harder, my advice is: forget NOOBS, forget PINN. Rather directly image Raspbian to the drive. You can copy any data files you have to the new drive after the fact.
As it happens, this very web site has a full description of how to do this. I'll grant that where it is isn't all that obvious as it's in the "Hardware" section of the Documentation (which is under "Help"), but it is there. Here is the link:

I understand this.

"PINN can install local images that are found in the /os folder on the SD card. These can include any of the original NOOBS images or any other OS that is formatted with a .tar.xz file for each partition."' Does this mean I have to compress my raw raspbian image as .tar.xz?

Re: 2 questions
I haven't used PINN, but I would presume that--as it's supposed to be a sort of "superset" of NOOBS--it would also be able to download OS images from the 'net. Failing that, you would need to either find or create compressed images. "Tar" is "tape archive". It's just a way to bundle a whole bunch of files into one package for ease of being moved around. It was originally for making tape backups. "Xz" is an identifier for a compression format, rather like 'zip", but with a better compression ratio (though it takes longer to do and isn't usually found on Windows systems...NIH, and all that).DarkPlatinum wrote: ↑Sun Sep 02, 2018 3:57 pmI understand this. On this site https://github.com/procount/pinn/blob/m ... -with-pinn it says

Try sticking PINN on an SD card (say, 16GB or larger) and see what it offers you if you can't glean that information from the documentation.
Re: 2 questions
Pinn does it for you, if you need the local download see the Download header.
Think of PINN as just like NOOBS with a few extra and useful functions (as that is what it is) it is setup just the same.
https://github.com/procount/pinn/blob/m ... d#download
And for off a usb if space is an issue.
https://github.com/procount/pinn/blob/m ... -usb-stick
Just have a go and see.

By the way the hardest part will be choosing which OS to use out of the list

Re: 2 questions
It took me 2 hours to clone my Pi to a freebie 16 GB Usb. I'm pretty sure the clone works because when booting from it, it goes through the boot process until loading the GUI of raspbian. I'm guessing it can't load the GUI due to the super slow read and write speeds from the USB drive.
Does anyone know how to get gzip to convert an image into a .tar.xz format? I'm using dd to copy the cloned image, and compress it into a tar.xz format. Read replys tommorow. Good night.

Re: 2 questions
Quick one though, for PINN help I would ask in the PINN thread (maybe link to this on if you want) or put PINN in you title so he notices.
Your title is not very descriptive.
