Fri Feb 27, 2015 8:25 am

PC World are now selling Pi's cheaply

£12.98 for a model A+ (which I think is cheapest anywhere...)

£19.99 for a B+

Amazing price, even more so for a high street store !

So, for the price of 4 and a half pints of beer I can get a B+ that is exceedingly tempting.

That £5 off code also works with Pi accessories, so you can get a £5.99 case for 99p delivered...

I tried with a £4.99 case, it showed £0, but wouldn't let me checkout

The deal is still on, just take £5 off with the code Pi5 at checkout

Oh, and £34.99 - £5.00 is £29.99 - reasonable for a Pi 2

As for beer, its cheaper up north:

I know. I have many fond memories of drinking in the Lass O'Gowrie in Charles St. with my mates from Barclays Bank.

The £5.99 case is a little bulky, in fact there seems to be room inside for some yet-to-be-identified HAT.

It was too tempting. Ordered one for collect in-store. It's going to be the new driver board for my old Canon USB scanner and CUPS server among other things.

Mine isn't reserve and collect. It's bought and paid for and will be delivered to the store for collection.

Interesting thing here is xxx.98 usually means "end of line" at PCW.
.97 means end of life
So looks like someone is trying to get clear their shelves of B+ because of the RPi2 and PCW have taken them.

I suspect there is quite a bit of 'dumping' of B+'s going on. Should be a good time to buy if they fulfil your needs! That's a lot of bang for not a lot of buck.

A+ now £17 on the PC World website, but still available at £15 delivered on their ebay store. The Multicomp case listed there at £3.50 is nice & compact with integral camera mounts parallel & perpendicular to RPi pcb. Houses the A+, camera and compact wifi dongle neatly.
