Can't get installed Samsung C410 printer

Thu Aug 25, 2016 8:27 pm

Hi,

I'm beginner with Linux and Raspberry Pi.
Everything that I managed to install or get working is by Google.

I have Samsun c410w series printer, which I'm trying to set up for CUPS

I have downloaded printer drivers from Samsung official page,
by trying to install I had "armhf" error.
After some research I found out that "package_utils" need to amend 59 line.
Drivers installed with no error - CUPS also working
when I add a printer no error appears, by trying to Print-Test page the print job will be stopped.
Please cloud someone advise me step by step how to install and set up the printer.

The Samsung Unified Drivers only support x86 & ARMEL (Soft FLoat)

They do not support ARMHF which is what you require:

I tried to follow with provided instructions but I can't get work.
I have downloaded the supported drivers manually from the list. But unfortunately I receive the same error. The drivers give 'armhf' error if I will change it in 'package_utils' line 59 from 'arm' to 'armhf' it seems that installation went with no errors but after checking the Test page on cups the jobs status are 'stopped'

As already stated ARMHF is not supported :?

Hi,
I checked on article regarding armel or armhf.
I also checked on the forum http://www.bchemnet.com/suldr/
And it seems that Samsung drivers are supported and can be used only by armel.

Can some suggest is there is a way to change the settings from armhf to armel ?

It is not just a change from ARMEL / Soft Float to ARMHF / Hard Float in settings.

It is the actual Operating System which needs to be Soft Float, which Raspbian Wheezy & Jessie ARE NOT..

As far as I am aware the only recent Linux Distro which was compiled for Soft Float was Slackware, but that considerably different from Raspbian, so you would need to undertake considerable work to get the Unified Driver to actually function.

IMO go out and buy a HP Printer supported by HPLIP:

Hi,
I have used Splix driver.
Installed using

Code: Select all

sudo apt install printer-driver-splix
Configured as IPP printer

Code: Select all

ipp://youraddress/ipp/printer
As a driver for our printer is not there I have used CLP-315 driver.
It works in both color and monochrome.
Have a nice day!
