This Forum has been created as a channel for communicating important information about the core Raspberry Pi software - the firmware, the Linux kernel and Raspbian. In order to keep the volume of posts low and encourage users to subscribe, user-created topics and replies are disabled; the intention is that announcements will include a link to a discussion topic in the appropriate forum.

The subjects of announcements here would be considered too technical for Blog posts - major feature additions, kernel version changes, any update that limits compatibility between different versions of the kernel and firmware, plus serious bugs that escape into the wild. We'll aim to keep the posts relatively concise to maximise the signal-to-noise ratio. In the meantime we'll keep this frequency clear.
