dhcpcd.service: Failed with result 'signal'

Sat Aug 17, 2019 10:34 am

I am using raspberry PI 3B and 3B+
the system is Raspbian Buster with desktop, it is flash install
Image with desktop based on Debian Buster
Version:July 2019
Release date:2019-07-10
Kernel version:4.19
I try this on both 3B and 3B+, they both have the same problem.

At first, I pointed to the "Wireless & Wired Network Settings" on right top corner. It popup the list of SSID and then I try to connect to my network and it fail. Now when I point to it, it said "connection to dhcpcd lost, no wireless interface found"
What should I do?

here are the error message
sudo systemctl status dhcpcd
Warning: The unit file, source configuration file or drop-ins of dhcpcd.service changed on disk. Run 'systemctl daemon-reload' to reload units.

Hi.

The first thing to do is to run raspi-config

Code: Select all

sudo raspi-config
in the terminal and got to the locations setting and set your location and wifi country then reboot your pi and try connecting to your wifi again.

I got an error message "Could not communicate with wpa_supplicant" when I try to change location setting.
Then, I try to add country=HK on top of wpa_supplicant.conf. It is not working also.
And I check the status of wpa_supplicant.service, it is active (running)

One more thing, not only wi-fi, ethernet also not working.
don't know what to do.

I would try a fresh download ,from this web page.

https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspbian/

and try flashing your SD card again using etcher.

I had the exact same issue, with identical error messages. The fix for me was to disable IPv6 on my router. The issue was immediately resolved after reboot.

Thank you! However, I did not turn IPv6 completely off. I changed my Netgear R6250 IPv6 provisioning from DHCP to "Auto config". Immediately restarted dhcpcd and all was well. I regained wlan0 interface as well as static IPv4 address on eth0. If anyone can explain why this happens in Buster and not Stretch, or happens at all for that matter, I am all ears...

Thanks to your post regarding the Netgear DHCP router settings, I can now access my network, too. :D :D :D I reset mine from automatic to DHCP.
Thank you very much!
