Since the parallel results were made using the GNU toolchain, it would be nice to run the serial tests with gcc. My suspicion is single-thread floating-point performance on the M1 with the Apple compiler is likely to be much faster than gcc.
So as not to stray too far off topic, I've followed this up with some tests performed on an 8-core ARM based EC2 instance in the Amazon cloud which I have posted back in the original thread on the Pi Pie Chart program.

Running a PI4 (8GB) with a PI-OS 64-bit (5.10.14-v8+) kernel, stock-standard, no tweaking.

Here we go - Octane Score: 5349

oh ... I ve got 10800 (or sometimes 10900, or sometimes lower like 10050) with PI OS 32-bit, overclock to 2.05Ghz ... maybe Chromium is well optimized for PI OS 32-bit and not so optimized for PI OS 64-bit ???

No idea, or interest. I am not interested in a 31-bit operating system.

Would it be possible to put the optimised 32-bit Chromium binary from Raspberry Pi OS in a container and run it on any of the 64-bit operating systems?
