One More Time .....

I again am trying Bullseye .
It still does not see my monitors .
( Screen configuration tool does not work )
( Though it works with Buster )
What does work :

xrandr --output HDMI-1 --mode 1280x720
But I would like not to have to open the
terminal every time I reboot .
I ' ve tried rc blah et. al , but cannot get
any of those to work .
Raspi config no longer has a screen tool .
Even config.txt seems not to work ..
Any insights appreciated .......

if it can not see the monitors, what do you expect it to do?
what monitors? brand? make? model?

your expecting the same as your pi, you want us to guess what your doing wrong without knowing anything about your setup.

first start with the stickys
maybe post raspinfo output, it'll create a raspinfo.txt file in your home folder.

And what, exactly, did you try? rc.local and @reboot cron jobs will run before the desktop has started so will fail.

If you're autobooting to the desktop, did you try adding that xrandrx line to /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart ?

which Pi do you use?

Prepare a fresh uSD with Bullseye, enable SSH.
Boot the system, then connect via SSH and get all updates

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get full-upgrade
reboot

Most likely still no display, so run below command in a SSH terminal and post the result here

DISPLAY=:0 xrandr --verbose
That will give us an idea what you have connected (and if any monitor is detected at all).

So here's what I suggest you do next: Post the informatrion that we have asked for. Below is one way to get it.
  1. Create thefollowing shell script:

    DISPLAY=:0 /usr/bin/xrandr --verbose --output HDMI-1 --mode 1280x720 >>/home/pi/xrandr.log  2>&1
    
  2. Save that as /home/pi/xrandrdebug.sh
  3. Give it execute permission:

    chmod a+x /home/pi/xrandrdebug.sh
  4. Call it using your preferred method during boot (or all of them).
    Cron:

    @reboot /home/pi/xrandrdebug.sh
    rc.local: add the following above "exit 0":

    autostart:

  5. Post the contents of /home/pi/xrandr.log. Wrap it in code tags.
That should give us some idea of what is going on and what, if any, errors are being thrown.

Edit your config.txt file (it's on the small FAT32 "boot" partition which is accessible on a Windows or Mac OS PC).

In the config.txt file, look for the line with:
dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d
and change it to
dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d
(basically, just put an f in front of kms on that line)

That configures Bullseye to use the older FKMS graphics driver, which is no-longer supported but still works in Bullseye (FKMS was by prior OS like Buster).
My mind is like a browser. 27 tabs are open, 9 aren't responding,
lots of pop-ups, and where is that annoying music coming from?

Another try - after letting us know what the physical resolution of yoir screen is (as the one pocked up as preferred from EDID seem non{working):

Change the content of your kernel command line - 'cmdline.txt'; find it in boot - to below

What I want you to do is adding 'video=HDMI-A-1:1280x720M@60' to the beginning of that line. This should force WXGA output of the Pi on HDMI0 (the port next to USB-C on your Pi4).

Keep using KMS!

Unlikely to make any difference. This seems to be a mode selection issue, and FKMS and KMS use exactly the same EDID parsing code.
FKMS would only be of benefit if you've also set a custom mode in config.txt, as that then bypasses the EDID parsing and lists the one mode.

So your screen says it supports 1080p, but then doesn't work. Either the EDID is wrong, or possibly your cable is of dubious quality and can't reliably carry 1080p.
Did it really work at 1080p with Buster, or just at a lower resolution?

A similar part number of E165W-1600HC lists it as only being a 1366x768 display.
That actually follows from your EDID - the detailed timing descriptors list 1366x768 (not supported on a Pi4), but the CTA-861 extension block then says that 1920x1080@60Hz is the native mode.

If you use the Screen Configuration application to set the mode, then it should save a file (/usr/share/dispsetup.sh IIRC) which will restore that mode on reboot. Manually using xrandr is not persistent (as you've found out).

With Bulls Eye ..... Buster works .
FWIW :
When the Pi 4 first came out ,
these monitors would not work
at all . ( I thought ( @ first ) that
the Pi ' s were not booting .
After ~ 1 year , I tried again and
they worked . Someone once
mentioned ' missing serial numbers '

Missing serial numbers was a mutter software issue which was addressed/solverd.

1366x768 is a Hardware issue on the Pi4 which will remain on that SOC.
