Building a designated music player

Sat Aug 13, 2022 6:34 am

Hello Everyone!

So this is a project I have been thinking about doing for a while and I have been wanting to create a designated item that's sole purpose was to run either Spotify or apple music with a downloaded library (so no Bluetooth or WIFI needed) Mainly this runs from my want/need for music while studying and test taking but my phone is a rather big distraction. So I was possibly thinking about loading android OS and possibly strapping a DAC to a Raspberry PI and essentially only downloading Spotify onto that pseudo tablet I guess? I would also like it to be a small form factor similar to the old iPod nanos. Is this even something that is possible and if so what would be some good starting off points? I am definitely jumping in the deep end with this project and could really use the help.

There are many tutorials on how to play Spotify on Raspberry Pi 4. I am sharing one. You'll find many more.

Since you want to make your project small, you have to use Raspberry Pi Pico. Could not find any spotify tutorial using Raspberry Pi Pico. But the process should be similar. To get audio output from raspberry Pi Pico, you can use Pimoroni Pico Audio Pack.

However, if you ever decide to make a media server using Raspberry Pi, you can see this: https://www.theengineeringprojects.com/ ... erver.html
