notify a phone from raspberry pi

Sat Oct 01, 2022 2:17 pm

Hey guys,
I want to make a phone play an audio or play an alarm when raspberry pi is triggered, but I don't know how.

I have thought about writing an app on a phone and when my raspberry pi push notifications it will make my phone play an audio or set an alarm. But I have no idea how to do it.

Read about iOS Push Notifications here:

It's not an easy task.

Maybe sending an SMS from a GSM module connected to a RPi could be a substitute - or sending an email to your iPhone?

Have a look at https://pushover.net/

Once installed it's a simple web call or email to trigger the alarm. Messages, links and attachments can be sent as well as the alarm (20+ sounds).

It is chargeable but it's a one time payment per platform (e.g. I pay twice - one for my iPhone / iPad and once for my iMac / MacBook = total $10 for four devices)

Have a look at ifttt.com (if this then that). It has a free tier.

Thanks for the recommendation -- that looks very useful.
