VLC playback broken

Fri Dec 09, 2022 6:30 am

After the last update, VLC doesn't play videos smoothly, takes most of the CPU for just 2 or so fps, even when paused.

This problem has happened few times with new VLC version, raspberry team usually fixes it shortly thereafter, probably gonna be the case this time as well, I'm just posting this just to be sure you guys know this problem exists :)

Pi3+ Bullseye (32-bit) VLC 3.0.18 Vetinary - CPU at ~40% smoothly playing the usual test "big_buck_bunny.mp4"
I must be doing something different?

I did a system reinstall to 64bit OS, now in fullscreen it plays fine, in windowed the described problem, which isn't really a problem for me. In my previous 32bit bullseye (no additional software installed, fully updated, no crashes) it played badly at low fps in both windowed and fullscreen.

So no longer worries ;)

Mine was windowed - all ok.

Return to “Raspberry Pi OS”
