Raspberry Pi 400 - keyboard setting - [SOLVED]

Thu Jan 26, 2023 3:33 pm

Hi,
First time on this forum.

I got a raspberry Pi 400 with the 79-keys. This is the DE version as shown on the attached file.

My question:
which keyboard Model, Layout and Variant should I select in order to have all keys working?

I tried:
  • - Model: Generic 105-key
    - Layout German (Switzerland)
    - Variant German (Switzerland)
But does not work correctly for all keys...

Thank you for your help.

See post viewtopic.php?t=316631&sid=e0be496765b4 ... 041c53b142. This is about a Dutch installation on a US keyboard. Model, layout and variant alone might not be enough. See at the end of the post. But those options are not presented RPI configuration program. You have to do it in LXTerminal.

Thx Joop99 but that does not answer my question...

I am trying to set the official keyboard suppied with Pi400 (not trying to install a specific keyboard or whatever)

Once again I received the Raspberry Pi400 with the official keyboard DE, 79 keys shown on the initial post. I am wondering how to set it up to have all keys working?
For example, the "exclamation mark", over key 1 does not work with the shift key. It print a "+" instead the "!". And a few others like this... :o

I use German keyboard without problems, but not with "Switzerland".
I just used "sudo raspi-config" to readout my settings:
  • Generic 105-key
  • German
  • AltGr —The default ...
  • No compose key
  • Use CTRL+ALT+BCKSPC —yes
All keys displayed on my keyboard work, including @ and € on Q and E keys with right-ALT.

I use the Pi400 all day as KVM switch for more than a year without issues:

According to WIKI (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QWERTZ) that's correct : SHIFT + 1 on a Swiss layout is '+'
Swiss layout

Swiss layout: SHIFT+1 = '+'

vs German layout

German layout: SHIFT+1 = '!'
