Raspberry pi ws2812b control

Hi guys so I'm looking to use my raspberry pi 4, to run a led strip (ws2812b)
I have been using a android over usb.. So I already have it wired up to exturnal power supply,

My question is.. Its there a way to contol them via SPI that is software based? I.e
Install program, pont to the right pins. Contol effect/ color in the software,

If I can also control over wifi that would be even better, and if I can then use it for a display ambient lighting in the software that would be legendary.

Iv seen a few guides but all are pretty much *text* based control and I also seen a WiFi server that you pc can connect to for the ambient
