Unstable i2c address

Thu Mar 16, 2023 5:30 pm

Hi,

I have 2 devices connected to my rasp pi 3b through i2c, a clock RTC8563 and a humidity sensor. Both were working fine a month ago when I left used the pi. Now the clock isn't working.

I2cdetect -y 1 always lists the AHT20 as being at address 38.

If I repeat the command, quite often I see another device (presumably the RTC) at 51. Other times I see only 38. Sometimes 38,51,69 or 38,51,29. Occasionally 38, 29 or 38,69.

Has my clock broken? I thought the ic2 address was fixed. How can mine apparently start dancing around like this?

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

A poor connection or the device is failing seem like the most likely reasons.
