Security Violation

I have an error booting Raspberry Pi Desktop USB stick on my HP notebook PC :

Code: Select all

ERROR Verification Failed: (0x1A)) Security Violation

I assume it is related to secure boot, as if I switch off Secure Boot in BIOS I can boot again in Raspberry Pi Desktop.

My HP notebook HDD has Windows 11 and Ubuntu 22.04 bual boot with no problems.

Raspberry PI Desktop is 2022/07/01 version with the latest software updates.


Please help!

Well, I wish I could run Raspberry Pi Desktop in Secure Boot mode, without switching off and on permanently in BIOS settings.
Secure Boot is a guarantee of security in modern OS. And Linux distibutions such as Ubuntu handle it without trouble, why not RaspiOS?

There is a recent contribution from an RPi Engineer about Secure Boot here - viewtopic.php?t=352061#p2110381

But I believe that is about running on arm-based Raspberry Pi hardware. Which is the only hardware platform that RasPiOS runs on.

This subforum relates to Debian for PC or Mac hardware, with the cosmetic addition of the 'Raspberry Pi' Desktop GUI. So if you find a general solution for Debian on 'Windows PC' hardware that provides secure boot it will almost certainly be applicable to this particular distribution.

At least, that's my understanding... Which, as ever, may be flawed.
