Hello,
I have a 7" element 14 touch screen display.
Instead of interfacing the touch screen via the ribbon cable to the raspberry pi. I would like to purchase an adapter that goes from the FFC ribbon cable to a female (or male) hdmi cable. Then I would have an application on a mini pc use the 7 inch monitor to display the application.
I have seen the arducam CSI to HDMI cable extension (in the link below) however the FAQ seems to indicate that this will not work for driving an HDMI.

If anyone in the community has experience with this any help would be greatly appreciated.
Maybe I am missing something but the only way I would think it shouldn't work is if the pinout on the touchscreens SFW15R-2STE1LF is mapped in a nonstandard way. However, if that is the case I would think someone somewhere would have made a breakout to compensate for this.
Thanks,
Chris VanOosterhout

Re: Using touch screen 7" as display for PC based application
There is no 'off-the-shelf' adapter for converting HDMI to the 7in DSi available.
If you need a 7in display with HDMI look i.e. At waveshare products which build them on purpose.

Re: Using touch screen 7" as display for PC based application
DSI and HDMI are not the same physical interface, therefore it's not a simple rewiring of signals between the 2 different connectors.
The 7inch display also needs configuration over the DSI interface, so any interface board would need to be customised for that display.
The Arducam CSI to HDMI adapters are only remapping signals in order to reuse HDMI cables to extend the camera. HDMI cables happen to have the right number of screened pairs of conductors (plus a few extra singles) for carrying the camera signals. It does NOT convert CSI to HDMI or vice versa.
