Hey Everyone:
My name is Robert and I'm somewhat new to Raspberry Pis. I have some Raspberry Pi 3 B+ machines. Our school uses strictly Chromebooks. I've had the Raspberry Pis for a few years and we did Retro Pi on them about four years ago. My SD cards will not read because I don't think they are FAT32 (correct lingo?). It looks like I need to reformat them in order to use them but I'm afraid to do this before I know what I'm getting into. I would like to copy some retro games from one SD card to another but can't.
I guess I'm looking for some starter programs and easy start ups for a computer science class I'm teaching. Again, we run strictly Chomebooks but I do have access to a Windows computer if necessary. I also have a MacBook Pro which I use at school. Any help getting re-started would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Newbie
Maybe you will find some support for teaching NOT based on Raspberry Pi hardware by looking at the resources from the Raspberry Pi FOUNDATION.

I'm a bit confused. You're going to teach a computer science class but are afraid of what you're going to get into if you try to reformat the sd cards, and does not know if the fat32 is a correct term. This does not compute (pun intended).
Get new sd cards, keep the old ones until you figure out how to get whatever you need from them, then reuse them

Hi Robert! Diving into Raspberry Pi projects
is a fantastic addition to your computer science class. For your SD card issue, try reformatting them to FAT32 using a Windows PC or your MacBook Pro
. Don't forget to back up any existing data first! As for starter programs, consider Python coding
, simple web servers, or Scratch for interactive learning. You can also use VNC Viewer or SSH to connect the Pis with your Chromebooks for a seamless class experience. The Raspberry Pi community is full of resources and project ideas, perfect for sparking student creativity and learning in your class!
