Wow, same 65ms exposure time.
That is some improvement, nearly looks like daylight.
Gain 2 vs gain 32 would make huge difference, but it also pulls up the noise level dramatically.

but it also pulls up the noise level dramatically.
Yep, much more noise.
But if this is a night image compare them against those first daylight ones in this post.

This is the IMX327 Starvis, says camera board SE327MBD.
The IMX662 Starvis 2 are supposed to have lower noise.
If same driver works then the IMX662 should be even better and just drop in.

My USB IMX291 is not getting anything like these images.
I might have look at the driver software.
Much better if the Pi has control instead of a USB chip that cannot be tweaked.

sohonomura2020 has responded to me via email.
HCG is intended for HDR modes to differentiate the different images.

Having read up a bit more, I don't see how this would be converted into a generic V4L2 control, so it's a bit of a funny one.
You already have 30dB of analogue gain available in this driver, or x31.6. OK it's in the analogue domain, but on 12bit data that would be the equivalent of expanding 0-132 to the full 0-4095 step range.

It could be shifted into a module parameter (as things like external trigger and disabling DPC have been), but that's not a brilliant solution longer term.

I lose track of all the sensors I've looked at over the years. Whilst IMX662 appears to be the next in the 327/290/462 family, I believe it programs some settings in a different manner to the earlier modules. It's therefore likely to need a different driver, and it looks slightly trickier than before to make generic settings.

Have you considered contacting them via their website, as mentioned in the previous message?
Oh no, not again.

The other people to talk to for Pi compatible image sensors is Vision Components - https://www.vision-components.com/en/pr ... ical-data/
They don't list IMX678, but will do custom modules if you're prepared to pay for them.

Dear Customers

Congratulations for new launch of RPi5!
Our products basically support MIPI 4-lane.
We can also supply small modules and V2 compatible form factor board which supports 4-lane connection and frame synchronization by XVS.
(IMX219, IMX258, SC132GS are ready, and AR0234 Color/Mono soon.)

And IMX678 camera board prototyping is on going.

Smoothly succeeded in capturing the image by libcamera.

How do you distribute drivers for this board? Are they open source? Do you provide them with the board?

Basically we ship the camera board and the "kernel and libcamera" built SD card including the source code (open source) together.

Sounds great. Did you manage to get Clear HDR working? And also does your board contain any specific logic or it's just a sensor with necessary passive components? Will your code be compatible with other boards? Like this for example https://github.com/will127534/StarlightEye

I have the register settings for C-HDR and it is possible to customize the driver.
Actually, one of our customers has succeeded in implement C-HDR function in their product.
Only the passive components are on the board except the sensor. FFC connector follows the pinout of CM4 carrier board.
Then should be the same to the board from will127534.
Actually Will127534 provided me the driver, they are the equivalent from driver point of the view.
