LXQT

Sun Sep 24, 2023 3:33 am

Hello,

I have been trying to find what version of LXQT is in the current version of the os. Planning on installing the lite os and thinking of trying a different desktop environment. Tried kde in the past and liked it but want the feel and something lighter. That's how I found out about LXQT. Just need to figure out if the version shipped I will like. Thanks for telling me the version number.

it depends on the os package method, when they package it as a deb they can name and version it how ever they want.

Haha fair point. Still plan on using it though. Like I said before like the look of KDE/Plasma but the full KDE/Plasma felt a bit clunky on my 8gb pi.

for kde, it's just a matter of disabling all the goodies, the eye candy. :lol:

Just trying to get a head of any problems that might arise, and just primarily out of curiosity.

well if your building on top of a lite install, make sure you run 'sudo raspi-config' first and set localisation options, before you even update, saves a lot of headaches later.

after the reboot you can 'sudo apt install task-lxqt-desktop' with out all the locale errors. :lol:

0.16 in Bullseye. 1.20 in Bookworm.

This is the version of the metapackage not lxqt itself. Need to look at one of the lxqt packages like lxqt-qtplugin to see the real version.
$ apt-cache show lxqt-qtplugin
Package: lxqt-qtplugin
Version: 0.16.0-1
Installed-Size: 128
Maintainer: LXQt Packaging Team
Architecture: arm64
Depends: libc6 (>= 2.17), libdbusmenu-qt5-2 (>= 0.3.2), libqt5core5a (>= 5.12.2), libqt5dbus5 (>= 5.14.1), libqt5gui5 (>= 5.10.0) | libqt5gui5-gles (>= 5.10.0), libqt5widgets5 (>= 5.0.2), libqt5xdgiconloader3 (>= 3.3.1~), libstdc++6 (>= 5), qtbase-abi-5-15-2, libfm-qt8
Recommends: lxqt-session, lxqt-config
Suggests: lxqt | lxqt-core
Description-en: LXQt system integration plugin for Qt
With this plugin, all Qt-based programs can adopt settings of
LXQt, such as the icon theme.
.
This package provides the LXQt qtplugin interface.

you should check the github, last i read you use mutter --wayland but it was crashy, i think there was also a kwin hack as well, but crashy to.

pretty much think wayland is a no go with lxqt currently, still a lot of work in progress. :lol:

Good call. You can actually set that along with some other things in the pi installer app I found out. Will have to confirm when I have time to confirm.
