Event trigger Picore Player +LMS

Greetings all,
I’ve just built an Amp with integrated streamer (Pi3b+IQaudio Dac Pro.
The prime objective was to build an amp/streamer that’s was wife friendly. I’ve installed Picore Player with LMS and the Spotify plugin. ( Volumio proved “clunky” as a spotify connect device)
I’m sure this question has been asked many times before but here goes……..
How do I implement an event trigger to turn to toggle a gpio (with a time delay) depending on the play/pause status of LMS?
All the software implementation so far has been carried out parrot fashion by studying YouTube videos.
I’ve attached a photo of the project, a 7.9 inch touchscreen is on its way!
