Raspberry pi zero 2 connecting to touchscreen display

Tue Nov 28, 2023 8:22 am

I dont know that much about raspberry pi, how would i connect a raspberry pi zero 2 to the official touchscreen display? And if I got a battery pack like PiJuice would I be able to use it or would I have to keep something plugged into a power socket the whole time?

All you need to know on that is: NOT POSSIBLE!
Not possible because a (any) Zero does not expose a DSI interface.

Your options are:
- HDMI
- analog video
- DPI (but will consume most/all of your GPIO)
- SPI (will require a burch of the available GPIO)

Other option: Make use of a Pi that has DSI interface!

i dont need gpio or anything else on my pi zero, just the functionality so it can be like a mini screen so i can check my calendar when i get home or something like that. for any of the options do i need to buy new cables? i have the mini hdmi to hdmi cable and the charging one.

how shall we know if you need extra equipment without you telling us which option you'll take !

Didn't you read viewtopic.php?p=2163460#p2162294?

Let me say it in BOLD: the official 7in DSI display CAN'T be used with any Raspberry PI Zero because the Zero does not have a DSI interface!

ask question to yourself: why did you buy the DSI? Product page of your two Pi would have told you that there is no DSI on both of them!

The official touchscreen DSI display can be used with the Pi A+, B, B+, 2B, 3A+, 3B, 3B+, 4B and 5.

If can also be used with any of the Pi Compute Modules, but they would require an IO board with a DSI connector.
