firefox update

Mon Feb 12, 2024 4:13 am

It seems that after 'apt update && apt upgrade' firefox is reenabled to auto update.
After doing the above a couple of hours ago firefox broke into my reading a page to stop my activity until it was through updating it self. I had disabled that several weeks ago so was surprised to have it happen again. I spent quite a bit of time after 'apt upgrade' before starting to browse again but firefox waited until I had searched for an article I was interested in reading before breaking my concentration and refusing to go forward until I let it shutdown and restart, I don't think that's a very well manered way for a program to act.

Does anyone know how to stop firefox from doing this and an upgrade to not erase my preferences or am I just blowing off steam? If the latter, my apologies for taking up your time.

Hopefully someone will know how to tame this unrully program, though perhaps not since I understand MS has laid a big check on the developers.

Be well,
Mike

not recommended, but you can use "apt-mark" to hold a package. it will not get updated
sudo apt-mark hold firefox (or something like that)

"man apt-mark" for more information
