Terminal COlor change

Thu Jul 24, 2014 12:21 am

Hi Guys,

I want my terminal or bash to have a black background and green text, I want it something to look like the Matrix Movie, How do I make the changes permanent?

It depends on which terminal you are talking about.

If you are using a keyboard and logging using a TV/monitor attached to the Raspberry Pi (and not using the desktop) then

Code: Select all

setterm -foreground green -background black
will work. To make it permanent you could add

Code: Select all

/usr/bin/setterm -foreground green -background black
to the file /etc/rc.local

If you are using the Desktop and using LXTerminal use the edit->preference menu item and select the style tab.

will this work in console? I use my Raspberry pi as a headless server.

If it is headless, how do you view the console? I think I have misunderstood your question. Do you mean you want the boot message to be displayed in green rather than white?

To be honest that wasn't a good solution!
