Bartop and new frontend for emulation

Hi, I have just finished a bartop, this is powered by a raspberry pi 2 and I wanted to show them off!

The cab contains a coin aceptor at right side, 2 players with four buttons per player.

The frontend is coded using openFrameworks and use gpio as input inteface.
The emulators are from libRetro as usual.

OMG!!! What a nice job!!!

I have two questions! Could you answer?

1 - Do you have a tutorial showing how to install this kind of coin acceptor?
2 - How I can get this frontend? Can I use a screen for each game (for example, instead we have one screen for each system, we have one screen per game)?

To install a coin aceptor, take a look at http://forums.adafruit.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=44883.

For now the frontend is tightly bound to the customized version of raspbian, and only accept gpio controls as inputs, in a few months will be released a modified version of the frontend, with gamepads or keyboard controls.

Use a background screen for each game: ops, this is posible, but its a lot of work make a background screen for each game. We will try to make something for the next release.

Agreed! Nice looking Front End/GUI, I'm sure the rest of the Pi Community will appreciate another one! Keep us informed and I can add to the Emulation Thread as an alternative to Emulation Station/AdvMENU!

We will report the progress of the frontend in this thread, for now we have to implement control with joystick and keyboard, because the only input method is with gpio , when we were ready we will release the frontend.
For now we are searching for beta testers.

Happy to help! I have previously assisted with RetroPie/MAME4ALLPi pre releases and have a 'Shed Load' of different Emulation Images/Pi Hardware which can be 'appropriated' for use in Testing (removing/replacing AdvMENU which is my preferred Front End/GUI).

Any chance of incorporating Vertical Support? One of my barcades has the monitor set-up for vertical games e.g. 1943, Donkey Kong. With MAME4ALL the menu is 90 degress out and you get a stiff neck

One question:
How do you drive the vertical resolution? From mame config file or from config.txt (system file)?

Hi,

My vertical bartop is running on 256mb RPi v1 & I am driving veritical res via MAME config.

Using the rotate option in Config.txt causes too much slowdown I have not tried on RPi v2 to see if it can run ok via Config.txt screen rotation.
