Read only setup with JESSIE?

Hi,
Anybody do a read only setup with the latest JESSIE release?
I've tried the one here:

attempted a few additions from here:

I've gotten pretty close (read: reduced the number of errors on boot) but so far it will boot, but dhcp dosen't work, dns doesn't work (probably because dhcp is not working), and ntp won't start (again, probably because of dhcp). logs don't give much help...
It uses the ip from the pre-ro lease, so I can ssh to it and my web service works...
I'm looking for trouble shooting suggestions.
