Mysql-server does not ask for entering password while installing

Wed Jan 10, 2018 3:57 pm

Just like the topic.
I have just installed mysql-server package on my pi and everyone says that the package will ask for a password of root
However, the demand was not required when I installed the package
I have tried to use mysql -u root -p to login and mysql_secure_installation to set my password but the solutions offered on the Internet don't seem as useful as I hope
I am not trying to figure out how to set a "usable" mysql database on the Pi
Thanks a lot

MySQL has been replaced with MariaDB. The setup in Debian/Raspbian is slightly different now.

To log in as root you need to use "sudo mysql". That will log you in directly and you can create a database and grant permissions for a new user to it.
