[SOLVED} Pi zero analog video output

Thu Jan 18, 2018 8:15 pm

Hi,

Is it possible to convert the video output of the pi zero w like this :

Mini hdmi -> hdmi
Hdmi -> vga
Vga -> rca

Or

Mini hdmi -> hdmi
Hdmi -> vga and RCA
Using this cable: http://www.dx.com/p/hdmi-to-vga-3-rca-c ... mEADyu0vYU

Thanks in advanced.

How about bare wires connected to the TV pin holes on the Zero -> RCA

That cable is unlikely to work. The TV connections already provide composite video output which should be compatible with RCA video inputs.

No!
No mere cable can convert HDMI to composite video.
Besides, the PI Zero already produces composite video.

Hi, thanks for your response. what is the easiest way to get RCA out on the zero? (i want analog audio too)

Analogue audio will require additional circuitry. Either the equivalent to the PWM driven analogue audio circuit on the other models, a USB audio adaptor or an I2S interface device.

Or, alternatively, use a Pi Model A+ rather than a Pi0. The A+ has a 4-pole 1/8" jack that provides composite video and stereo audio output. All you need is a simple, readily available, cable.

Another pi is not an option since i want to make something like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5dXx0NhLxg but than RCA instead of HDMI but if it needs all those extra modules it wont fit anyway so... do you have any suggestions how it would still be possible? otherwise I will just give it up .

As the OP you can change the title to add "[SOLVED]" as you've seen in other threads. Only the moderators can lock/move/delete threads.

You should be able to pack the few components needed for the Pwm audio into that controller.
ere's another take on the circuit:
https://sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=480
You don't have to put all the components on a flat board and some could mount directly on the Pi0.
