USB Ethernet adapters

Sat Mar 31, 2018 4:53 pm

Hi, I picked up a Zettaguard USB 2.0 to Gigabit Ethernet adapter to get a little more throughput from my RPi3 B+ and while it works brilliantly as a plug-and-play device I need to be able to set a static IP for it (the Pi is my PLEX server) and I can't seem to locate any docs on how to do that

Welcome to the RPi forums!

It should be the same as with any other ethernet adapter, i.e. something like:

Code: Select all

Note that the Pi's built-in adapter is usually ue0 (usb ethernet adapter 0). So for a temporary command line setup,
maybe you could use:

ifconfig ue1 inet netmask broadcast

For a permanent setting, use your /etc/network/interfaces file, and make the static entry there (different syntax than the command line above). I think this other forum post saves me some typing:

This all works fine on my Pi2. Probably the Pi3 is the same.
