Raspberry PI openVPN client setup

Tue Nov 27, 2018 7:29 pm

I want to have my PI(headless) use OpenVPN client to connect to my VPN router. When i export the keys(from router), I get two files, .ovpn and .p12. how do i dissect them to make the PI connect to my VPN?

This project uses rasbian lite(no gui), that I want to, on bootup, start openVPn client and connect to my VPN router, so i can interact with it....

everything i see is about running an OPENvpn server on PI, i want to do the opposite...

Thanks for any help!

Some very basic help is https://openvpn.net/vpn-server-resource ... -computer/ and a bit more step by step at http://kernelreloaded.com/openvpn-clien ... pberry-pi/

Let us know how you get on as I’m thinking of dropping a Pi into a friends house and this may fit

It was a LOT easier than i thought)...

Installed openvpn on PI
Created road warrior on Zerina
unzipped and copied(p12 and ovpn files) to /etc/openvpn
sudo openvpn client.ovpn

works like a champ...

now i will set it up to auto start when it boots up.

The nice thing, once plugged in power up, it calls home and home can interact with it(as long as Openvpn is not blocked on the remote router).
