Hi, not sure if this counts as a problem that needs troubleshooting...
I received my pi today and I have it connected to my TV by HDMI. I also have a 3.5mm cable running from the pi into my sound system and the correct input on the sound system selected, but the sound insists on playing through the TV speakers. Do I need to change a setting somewhere so that my pi knows to use the HDMI for video, but the audio jack for the audio?
Thanks in advance,
Matt
EDIT: Oh yes, incase it matters here I'm using the latest version of Raspbian Wheezy

Re: Audio from 3.5mm Jack while using HDMI?
Try
hdmi_drive=1
In your config.sys file on the FAT partition of your SD card.

Mr Webster normally gives good advice but on this occasion I have serious doubts. I think http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 22#p219222 will be more useful to the OP.

Many thanks - the command...
...did exactly what I wanted!
Code: Select all
sudo amixer cset numid=3 1

Thanks for the correctness.
So does the sound get discarded if firmware is told that the HDMI-connected device is video only (hdmi_drive=1)?

I believe it will default to analogue. If you select HDMI explicitly it will be discarded.Paul Webster wrote:So does the sound get discarded if firmware is told that the HDMI-connected device is video only (hdmi_drive=1)?
