correct sources.list

Fri Jan 03, 2020 11:21 am

Hello, on my raspbian installs my src list for apt looks like this:

Code: Select all

deb http://raspbian.raspberrypi.org/raspbian/ buster main contrib non-free rpi

However on my Debian box, it looks like this:

Code: Select all

###### Debian Main Repos
deb http://deb.debian.org/debian/ stable main contrib non-free
deb-src http://deb.debian.org/debian/ stable main contrib non-free

deb http://deb.debian.org/debian/ stable-updates main contrib non-free
deb-src http://deb.debian.org/debian/ stable-updates main contrib non-free

deb http://deb.debian.org/debian-security stable/updates main
deb-src http://deb.debian.org/debian-security stable/updates main

deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian buster-backports main
deb-src http://ftp.debian.org/debian buster-backports main

Do I have to include updates, security and back ports in my apt list to ensure I get all updates correctly?

Thanks, do you know why Debian includes those extra lines?

Because Debian keeps the update and security updates separate from the main repository and Raspbian includes them in the main one.

Great thanks, so sounds like my Raspbian setup is correct and so is my Debian one...
