Pihole login?

Fri Jan 10, 2020 11:20 pm

I'm trying to make a pihole, and I'm following this guide: ... -tutorial/
I have gotten to set 3/4, and the pi is not sahowing up on my network. I plugged it into my TV and it is asking for login info. This is a new install of Raspbian Buster Lite, so I would think that it should not need any login info since I have not created any account or set any password, but it will not fully boot up without login info. I tried typing a login and pass that I used previously on RetroPi, but I can't even do it. I typed in the login name, pressed enter, it asked for a password, I started typing and nothing appears. It's not even allowing me to try to type a password. I hit back, and it said password incorrect. So i can't even boot the device.

By default, the login credentials for a Raspberry Pi are:
Username: pi
Password: raspberry

So if this is a new install the connecting your pi to your router with a LAN cable should automatically connect your pi to the network , do you see the 2 LEDs on the pi LAN socket light up , or the cosponsoring ones on your router port light up ?

The terminology is a bit wrong in the tutorial you are folloing , you need to look in the connected devices list on your router not the DHCP client/reservation list.

When entering the user name at the log in you will see pi as you type it, but you do not get any characters on the screen when typing the password raspberry this in normal.
