Pi Hole + Nord Vpn on pi4

Mon Apr 20, 2020 12:52 am

hello guys
i have a pi4 and a 4g router.

i want to do something like this:

device --> router --> raspberry [pi hole + vpn] --> router --> internet

important: i don't want to make my own vpn for connecting thru my raspberry when i'm out of home (since i have a mobile data plan it will dry out all of my Gigs in no time).
I have nordvpn and i just want to use it so, when i'm home,my traffic is automatically encrypted in the raspberry (since my router can't interact with nordvpn).
it will be good if I can even disable the VPN when I don't want it because of the slowing down it causes.

pc --> router --> raspberry --> pi hole --> nord vpn --> router --> internet

do you think that kind of setup it's possible to achieve?

thanks in advance for your attention ;)

Should be as easy as setting up nordvpn on your pi and setting your router or individual clients to use the Pi as the default Gateway to the internet.

Instructions to set up NordVPN on PI - https://nordvpn.com/tutorials/raspberry-pi/openvpn/

Would assume you would use a Pi4 on wired gigabit ethernet connection to achieve this as if all you internet traffic is passing through this its going to take some throughput ?

Main thing I'd say here - if your not comfortable approaching this setup on your own, you shouldn't probably be approaching it unless there's already guides out there for other providers you can adapt - I dunno CyberGhost, Windscribe or whoever. Google, google and then google some more.
