Hi All, I'n have a raspberry 4 module running raspbian. This is connected with mini <> normal hdmi cable.
This setup gives a picture on a flat lcd screen
Then i have a DELL CRT monitor type cm2317p
This has a VGA cable, which can be tested and viewed with my normal pc via a VGA <> HDMI cable
This works
Now when i connect it to the raspbery, i get no picture. I tried lowering the resolution on the raspberry but no succes.
What can i do? Thx

A HDMi-VGA Cable will not work, you need a convertor, see:

I have tried changing the port of microHDMI. No effect.
So i have three monitors next to Raspberry to try it...
- LCD with VGA
- CRT with VGA
- LCD with hdmi
The ones with VGA will not work only the hdmi one... I change the connection..

Please be a little less aggressive. It's quite easy to point something out without explanations marks. It's been happening a lot recently, please calm it down.fruitoftheloom wrote: ↑Thu Jun 18, 2020 10:19 amtechnov1king wrote: ↑Thu Jun 18, 2020 9:15 amThat is exactly what is have.! https://imgshare.io/image/img-6332.N2fYT5

and I've just tried again to connect my other RPi4B-4G to it
RPi4B-4G HDMI0 ---> micro HDMI cable ---> HDMI to VGA adapter ----> Monitor VGA port
and it (still) works
this is the HDMI to VGA adapter that I used for the setup

Re: connect a raspberry 4 to a DELL CRT monitor
I have not had any problems with my HDMI-to-VGA adapter; I just plugged it in to the Pi's HDMI socket and a VGA monitor and it just worked.
The two potential issues I can think of are that the adapter needs more power than the Pi can provide, though for the Pi 4B I believe that should be able to provide up to 250mA.
The other is that the PI is choosing a video resolution for the adapter which the monitor cannot show. Tweaking 'config.txt' HDMI settings might fix that.

Re: connect a raspberry 4 to a DELL CRT monitor
I also think this may be the cause of the problem the OP may be facing with the Dell CRT Monitor and RPi4B
try setting the resolution to 1024 x 768 (monitor's native resolution according to CNET is 1024 x 768 85Hz) at the config.txt
