Help with Pi & Yamaha Receiver

Hi I was hoping someone may be able to help me with my issue,
Issue: Vision signal is dropping out from raspberry pi to projector every few seconds, the HDMI led on the amp display flickers as does the HDFURY 3 blue led
Equipment: Sony cx70 projector, Yamaha rx-v473 receiver, raspberry pi (B) with rasplex installed (current version) & HDFURY4 - All running HDMI with the HDFURY converting HDMI - VGA for the projector
What I have tried:
Editing the config.txt file - increased the hdmi boost to 6 and also edited the HDMI group & mode to 1 & 5 (1080i at 60hz) - NO RESULT
Replaced HDMI cabling, changed USB power supply cable - NO RESULT
Bypassing the Yamaha receiver and coming straight from the rasp pi to HDFURY to projector - WORKS GREAT
So basically when I bypass the yamaha receiver it works great, when its connected it flickers and drops out, which makes me think the issue lies with the receiver and rasp pi talking to eachother.
FYI I can run my Set top box through the receiver using HDMI and works fine.
obviously I need to run it through the receiver to get audio so any help would be much appreciated
Please let me know if I have left any important info out
Thanks and appreciate your help !
