I see its also made a recovery file by the looks in home/pi I don't seem to be able to save or load. how do I set this thing up so I can save my games and not get errors?? :-) I also seem to have an error with my "games list". I am new to the raspberry pi and this is my first project. I'm also new to Linux so please if you can help me I would appreciate it greatly :-) I will post the exact error lines tomorow as im away from the pc now. Thanks

Hi,

do the /media/usb/psx folder exists ?

What does the command 'ls -la /media/usb/psx' returns ?

Your pi user does not have rights to write in this directory.

You can either specify to retroarch an other savestate directory :

Code: Select all

savestate_directory = /path/to/thedirectory
savefile_directory = /path/to/thedirectory
in ytour retroarch config file or change the rights on the current roms directories, here you have multiple options depending on the way your usb is mounted.

Try

Code: Select all

sudo chown -R pi:pi /media/usb/

i tried your second suggestion of " sudo chown -R pi:pi /media/usb/" and it went through all the files on my usb but next to every one is said operation not permitted :(

i will now try your first suggestion. i am in the retroarch.cfg file and here comes my stupid question... what path would you suggest i put? if i put a folder in the RetroPie folder and called it say "save" what would be the directory path to it? would it be /home/pi/RetroPie/save/ forgive me i have a book called retro pi for dummies im using to help me learn but the whole relative or absolute path thing confuses me i never know what to put sometimes..

Remove the # in front of the lines in config file : # means it's a comment

YAY thank you soooo much it now saves :D :D :D

every single line of the Retroarch.cfg file had a # so i would of never known to remove that...

I do seem to still have some strange lines popping up when i exit emulation station, i'll attatch a photo. Could you let me know what these are if you know and if i need to fix them.

I guess now i will have to go through that retroarch.cfg file and see it its worth takeing the # out of any of the other commands.

gamelist.xml files are files where are stored games informations. If you have configured system with no games inside, es will try to find the gamelist file, that have never been created. It's not an error, i think it might be logged as an info. So if you still want to get rid of this warnings, just create gamelist.xml files with just

Code: Select all

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<gameList>
</gameList>
inside.

And then if you want to hide all info from the terminal :
