Best 5 inch display that mounts directly on the Pi 4B?
Hello, just like the topic is, I want to find the best 5 inch display that directly mounts into the Pi 4B.
Re: Best 5 inch display that mounts directly on the Pi 4B?
I think "best" depends on a lot of things.
There are 5" full 1080p screens available that are normally sold as "field monitors" for recording video. I am sure they could be made to mount to the Pi. Some are under $150 USD. Some have speakers built-in.
Not to say that the screen that donmerch posted isn't good. In fact, I'm tempted to get one.

Gotta love how they call 800x480 "High Resolution"

That's not high resolution, or even medium resolution. That's less than SVGA (800x600) from over 30 years ago.
A 5 inch screen is larger than a Raspberry Pi. So the screen would not mount to the Pi, the Pi would mount to the screen.AndrewK2020 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 9:26 pmHello, just like the topic is, I want to find the best 5 inch display that directly mounts into the Pi 4B.
And "best" for what (games, videos, pictures, reading ebooks, coding)?
Most smaller Raspberry Pi screens are not going to have very good resolution, which may be okay for gaming (less pixels to push), but it won't be as good for video (less than HD) and even less so for viewing pictures or reading ebooks, or even just surfing around with a browser.
If you do find a full HD screen in the 5 inch size, it will likely be pricey. Also note that 1080p at 5 inch screen size will make text very small.
My mind is like a browser. 27 tabs are open, 9 aren't responding,
lots of pop-ups, and where is that annoying music coming from?

That is 48.81$ for 5" DSI 800x480 touch.
For 60$ you can get official Raspberry 7" DSI 800x480 touch display.
While DPI displays cover all GPIOs, they should be faster than DSI displays (parallel vs. serial).
I don't need touch functionality since I have touch on my small wireless keyboard.
I own two 39.99$ 7" Waveshare DPI 1024x600 no-touch displays and am happy with them.
There is 34.99$ 5" Waveshare DPI 800x480 no-touch as well:

P.S:
Thread "LCD, keyboard and Wifi make Raspberry laptop" shows 7" Waveshare LCD and touch wireless keyboard:

Lately I use that display on book shelve the Pi4B is hanging at:
